The original modern house was relatively small. The intent was to open up spaces to become larger and to add a new rear wing for additional bedrooms, maintaining the quite simple modern detailing. The owner had a good sense of design and was very involved in the process throughout. Separating the front living room from the rest of the house by the use of steel framed glazed doors allowed a connection whilst maintaining climate control and a sense of surprise moving through the house. The dining room was opened up to the side garden area and a new kitchen with skylights looked towards the main rear side gardens. The study is able to be closed off when required by a sliding wall. The rear wing contains the laundry, 2 guest bedrooms and a bathroom with a connecting hallway that opens up to a covered terrace area leading to both the main side garden and the rear garden. The house now opens up and comfortably links spaces throughout.
